Police investigating after woman hit, killed by stray bullet

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – Oklahoma City Police say they’re investigating after a 72-year-old woman was hit by a stray bullet while in bed.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 4000 block of NW 36th St. on Wednesday, August 7, at 6:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found Kathleen Cade, 72, in her bed with a head wound. Originally, officers thought she had a laceration to her head and she take taken to a nearby hospital.

Officials say after evaluating Cade, hospital staff told police that her laceration was actually a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe she was hit by a stray bullet while in bed during the early morning hours of August 7. It is believed that the bullet came from NW 36th St.

Cade later passed away from her injury while at the hospital on Wednesday, August 14. Her death is now considered a homicide.
