Woman rescued, alleged trafficker arrested at OKC motel

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — State agents from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics made an arrest in a human trafficking investigation in Oklahoma City. It all started after they said another law enforcement agency notified OBN about a case that sparked some concern.

OBN said the other agency met with the alleged suspect for an unrelated incident.

“After their encounter, they did contact us and said there were signs that this may involve a female who may be trafficked,” said Mark Woodward, a spokesman for OBN.

Agents said the investigation only lasted a few days as human trafficking cases are a top priority.

We started an investigation—our human trafficking unit did—and we did find significant evidence that did point, that she was a victim,” said Woodward.

Agents got an arrest warrant and just before noon on Monday arrested 38-year-old Michael Martinez at the Econo Lodge near I-40 and Meridian Avenue.
