Officials say the fire began near the back of the house and caught a deck on fire before spreading to the second story. The residents were able to make it out safely, but their pets did not survive.

“One of the occupants was alerted. I’m not sure if it was by smoke detector or just happened to see light out the back,” said Batt. Chief Greg Lindsay with OKCFD. “When she investigated, determined that the house was on fire, that she was able to get everybody out.”

No injuries have been reported, but there is fire and smoke damage to the home.

The cause of this fire has not been determined.
