Scissortail Park celebrates five years with events all month long

OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok ( KFOR ) — Scissortail Park is celebrating big this month as it’s their five year anniversary. To commemorate the anniversary, there are events happening all month long.

“I think it’s our generation’s gift to generations going forward. Hopefully they’ll continue to invest in it and reinvent it and make Oklahoma City the city it can be,” said Former Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett in 2017.

Former Mayor Mick Cornett made that comment long before Scissortail Park looks like it does now.

Park leaders said since then, there’s been a lot of changes.

“Wow. The last five years have gone so quickly and such a dream,” said Marlo Turner, the Vice President of Development at Scissortail Park.

The project took years to complete.

“What’s exciting are events where the park is activated. That was the intent. We wanted a place for everyone to come and be able to use the park to their best abilities,” said Turner.
