Police release new details in SE Oklahoma City standoff

OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – Oklahoma City Police have released new details following a standoff Monday afternoon .

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers responded to a call regarding a man shooting at another man near SE 44th St. and Shields Blvd. around 4 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Mario Cruz had barricaded himself inside of a house.

Officials say Cruz broke through an attic wall and fired shots at officers. He later jumped to the ground from the hole in the attic wall, moved towards the back of the house where he met officers with a pistol.

Shortly after, Cruz was shot by a member of the OKCPD Tactical Unit. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains.

The officer involved has been placed on routine administrative leave as the investigation continues.
