OKC’s ‘MasterChef’ darling, Gabe Lewis teaming up with fellow chef for popup dinner

Oklahoma City’s two-time ” MasterChef” competitor Gabe Lewis is teaming up with another local chef to host a one-of-a-kind popup on Monday.

Starting at 6 p.m. Monday, at Kindred Spirits, 1726 NE 23 St., guests can try out dishes from Lewis and fellow OKC chef Quentin Hairston. The popup is not ticketed and will be conducted on a first come, first serve basis.

The duo aim to offer a menu featuring childhood favorites made with a modern twist, with items like patacón, dumplings, chicken, pizza and a dessert option, set to be featured.

Hairston is currently the chef at The Chalkboard in OKC’s Ambassador Hotel , and recently competed in the Culinary Cookoff at the Oklahoma Restaurant Association Expo.

Lewis, who works as a private chef, rose in the OKC culinary ranks after not one, but two runs on the hit Fox cooking competition show “MasterChef.”

After Lewis’ first trip to the show, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay offered to pay Lewis’ way through culinary school, and after finishing at Francis Tuttle’s School of Culinary Arts, Lewis moved to Denver to attend Johnson & Wales, graduating in 2019. He spent time doing some private chef work, picking up opportunities through relationships he’d made during his time on the show.
