Will fans need Amazon Prime subscription to view Thunder?

Ninety days before the opening night of the 2024-25 season, Oklahoma City Thunder fans still don’t know who will broadcast the team’s games.

Earlier this offseason, it was reported that Diamond Sports Group (which owns the regional sports network Bally Sports) was nearing a decision to terminate broadcast deals with 14 NBA teams in light of an ongoing bankruptcy.

However, just weeks later, Diamond Sports Group agreed to retain partnerships with 12 teams, including the Thunder, for the 2024-25 season.

Diamond Sports Group has delivered local Thunder broadcasts since the franchise moved to Bricktown in 2008, so the news about their financial challenges left many OKC fans concerned.

A major shakeup on the way?

On September 5, news broke that Amazon is in talks to land the rights to livestream local broadcasts of the 12 NBA teams via its flagship subscription service, Amazon Prime.

As Diamond looks to wiggle out of bankruptcy, which it originally filed in March 2023, a potential deal with Amazon could be its best option.
