Water pressure still down after OKC water main break this week, repairs being made Friday

Maintenance crews are still working on the water break on Pennsylvania Avenue that broke Tuesday morning, but officials say side roads may open sometime Friday morning.

According to Jasmine Morris, public information manager with the OKC Utilities Department, a replacement valve was installed Thursday afternoon, which will allow many of the repairs to be completed. As the repair continues in the final stages, though, they cannot confirm when pressure will be fully restored to normal levels.

Pennsylvania Avenue between Main Street and NW 7 will be closed until it is safe to open. Morris said that will only be after the water main is fully pressurized and flushed using the fire hydrants on Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, NW 10 between Barnes and Villa Avenues still needs some restoration work to be completed, but it could be finished and opened sometime Friday morning. Crews have been cleaning up Pennsylvania Avenue since Wednesday night, and 4-5 trucks will be working to finish the cleanup today.
