Court documents: Jones man admits to shooting victim over attitude

JONES, Okla. ( KFOR ) — A Jones man facing multiple felony charges admitted to police that he shot a man working on a property near his house because he gave him an attitude, court documents allege.

The incident happened September 13 near Britton and Westminster Road. An affidavit for suspect Michael Stevens arrest say he appeared to be intoxicated when officers approached him about the alleged crime where he made several voluntary statements.

Stevens allegedly told officers he saw the victims, named in the affidavit, clearing land west of his property and was not happy; admitting that he snapped when he heard a chainsaw. Documents say Stevens confronted the victims, and that the victim he shot, gave him an attitude.

According to the documents, Stevens told officers he was curious if the victim he shot was dead, also telling them that he did not think he was because he took off running.

Stevens also allegedly told officers that he tried to shoot the second victim, but he ran.
