Is OKC ready to push 60 wins in consecutive seasons?

Predictions for the year are trickling out with the 2024-25 NBA season getting ready to boot up in less than one month. 2024 will boast several intriguing storylines, including the ceiling of the Oklahoma City Thunder, coming off the previous season and widely praised offseason they just had.

From current and former players to analysts and fans, the Thunder are being pegged as the favorites in the Western Conference, a side that has been routinely competitive in recent years. In the overall landscape, many have Oklahoma City slightly behind the defending champion Boston Celtics to win the 2025 NBA championship.

Another historic season on the way?

Before the 2023 season started, few predicted that the Thunder would exceed 50 in the win column, and even fewer envisioned them earning a postseason appearance. But, after just a month or two of basketball, the Blue and Orange showed everyone that they were for real and the NBA team with arguably the brightest future.

While the Thunder were an underdog story last year, this year is an entirely different monster. Now, the expectations are there — and they are quite heavy. Anything below a Western Conference Finals appearance would be considered a whopping failure. And even if they reach this round but fall short, it will still leave many unsatisfied with the team’s season.
