OKC ranks No. 2 on CBS Sports’ training camp power rankings

The upcoming 2024–25 NBA season promises numerous intriguing storylines. From new faces on new teams to which clubs can reasonably challenge the defending champion Boston Celtics for the championship, there is so much to keep up with.

Among the clubs slated to make some significant noise is the Oklahoma City Thunder, who unleashed a storm on the association over the offseason by ripping off a blockbuster trade for Alex Caruso and securing star big man Isaiah Hartenstein shortly thereafter.

Oklahoma City walks into next season as the prohibitive favorite in a packed Western Conference and aims to take over as the league’s next powerhouse over the coming years. But can the Blue and Orange make a historic jump and snatch the Larry O’Brien Trophy?

Ever since Caruso and Hartenstein arrived, Oklahoma City has climbed the charts. From current and former players to pundits and fans, virtually everyone recognizes the Thunder as a team that has improved from last season — and the team from last season won 57 games and swept their opponent in the first round.
