Moore mother says paychecks were garnished for a debt that isn’t hers

MOORE, Okla. (KFOR) —A Moore mother said she was forced to quit her job because her check was being garnished for a debt she said she doesn’t know anything about.

Priscilla Douglas said her paychecks have been garnished on and off since 2012 for a car she said she never signed for.

“I’ve been being robbed I guess, from my wage that I’ve earned my entire adult life,” said Douglas.

Douglas said the issue goes back to 2012. A car dealership claims she owed them money because she co-signed for a 1999 Saturn.

“I’ve never been able to co-sign for anything in my life,” said Douglas.

Douglas said she was first told she would have to pay $6,000, now she’s being told she owes $22,000.

“I never been served, not once. They’ve been coming for me since 2012 and never have I been served,” said Douglas.

Douglas said there were times when her paychecks weren’t touched, then the company would come back and start garnishing her again.

“I don’t know if the car was repossessed. I don’t know if it was given back. I don’t know who whose name is on the car. I don’t know nothing,” said Douglas.
