Chet Holmgren took one large stride toward recovery this week.
In attendance for the Thunder’s 113-105 New Year’s Eve win against the Timberwolves on Tuesday, Holmgren was seen pacing from the bench to the floor — this time without crutches.
After sustaining a right iliac wing fracture in a Nov. 10 loss to the Warriors , Holmgren was forced to use extraordinarily large crutches.
It’s unclear where Holmgren is in his recovery process, but next week marks eight weeks since his injury; the Thunder noted that an update on his return-to-play protocol would be provided after 8-10 weeks.
In Indiana late last week, coach Mark Daigneault said that Holmgren was “on track.”
“I’m not going to give you guys the blow-by-blow of what he’s doing, but you don’t go from like crutches to playing,” Daigneault said. “So there’s going to be a progression, and he’s going to go through that, and he’s right where he should be right now.
