Second suspect arrested in deadly home invasion

EDMOND, Okla. ( KFOR ) — A second suspect is now in jail in connection to a deadly home invasion over the weekend.

Edmond police officers, the US Marshals Service, and the Oklahoma City Police Department arrested 23-year-old Robert Mayfield Jr.

He was arrested Wednesday morning for murder.

“They broke in by surprise,” said Emily Ward, with Edmond Police Department. “There were two others that were inside the home. One male had been physically assaulted and one female was not physically harmed.”

Witnesses told police two men were wearing hoods when they entered the home.

One of the suspects then hit a man over the head with a gun, then entered a bedroom and found another man and woman there.

A fight broke out, and one of the suspects shot the man in the chest and killed him.

“I don’t believe anything was taken,” said Ward.

The motive still unknown, but the victims told Edmond police on New Year’s Eve, three men assaulted the woman, stole $10,000, and promised to be back.
