Texas A&M Fans Frustrated With Veteran Guard’s Unexpected Request

Just days after announcing that former Oklahoma guard Duke Miles would be transferring to Texas A&M, head coach Bucky McMillan and his staff reported that Miles has now requested his release from the team.

Miles, who garnered interest from multiple powerhouse programs during his time in the portal, ultimately chose the Aggies after taking multiple visits to College Station. The former Sooner requesting his release should come as a major surprise to Aggie fans, as Miles was expected to play a major role this upcoming season and help fill the void left by departing seniors Wade Taylor IV and Zhuric Phelps.

“Shouldn’t be allowed” one fan said on X. “Is it the money? Maybe he didn’t get accepted into A&M or Virginia? Grades still have to matter of course but none of this is adding up.” As Aggie fans continue to voice their growing confusion and skepticism surrounding Miles’ unexpected transfer path, the question remains as to where the veteran guard will end up.

The 6’2”, 188 pound senior was one of the lone bright spots on an up and down Oklahoma squad, as Miles should receive an offer from multiple teams after entering the transfer portal for the second time in the past month. Miles averaged 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game last season, all while shooting 51.4% from the field.
