OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Lightning was the cause of multiple house fires in the Oklahoma City metro Wednesday morning.
Officials say crews responded to a house fire near NE 150th St. and Post Rd. just after midnight. The residents were able to get out safely and crews from Edmond and OKC quickly knocked the flames down.

“It looks like it’s primarily to the attic over the garage in the end of the garage,” said Lt. Justin Mann with Edmond Fire Department. “Obviously throughout the house some smoke damage and stuff, but that’s about all we can have right now.”
About two hours later, crews responded to a second house fire near Hefner Rd. and Rockwell Ave. The residents inside were still sleeping but they were able to get out safely when crews arrived. The cause of this fire is believed to be lightning but it still under investigation.
“Fire alarm came in a little bit after 2 o’clock this morning, companies were on scene fairly quickly. When I got on scene, there was fire coming through the roof.” said Major Derrick Fraysur with OKCFD. “From what we believe to be a lightning strike but it’s under investigation.”…
