OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Life will be different at the Oklahoma City Fire Department now that Laya, the rescue canine, is retiring after 10 years. She and her handler, Chief Andrew McCann, have an inseparable bond.
“I trust her with my life and even though she can’t tell me, I’m pretty sure she trusts me with hers,” said Chief Andrew McCann, with the Oklahoma City Fire Department.

Laya and Chief McCann have been by each other’s sides since they were paired together in 2016.
She was one of the first dogs to graduate from the Ground Zero Emergency K-9 Training Program funded by Barry and Becky Switzer, to benefit the Oklahoma City Fire Department…
