Woman watching child in Las Vegas drowning wasn’t sober: Police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman who was taking care of a 5-year-old boy when he drowned admitted to drinking alcohol, according to a police report NewsNation affiliate KLAS obtained.

Jaxenn Garcia died on June 28 at an apartment complex near Flamingo Road and Nellis Bouelvard.

In an incident report from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, officers said that the adult caused the child to “suffer unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering as a result of negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child.” Police added that a report of “child abuse, neglect, or endangerment was taken” due to the drowning. The name of the person was redacted in the incident report…
