Eight Dogs Rescued, Three Dead in Southwest Oklahoma City House Fire as Investigations Continue

A residential fire occurred earlier today in southwest Oklahoma City. According to KFOR, emergency crews responded to the scene near SW 37th Street and Woodward Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. Firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the flames that had affected the residence.

The situation intensified when reports suggested that pets may have been inside the burning home. As KFOR details, emergency crews retrieved eight dogs from the structure. Five of the dogs were rescued, while three did not survive the fire.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department has not yet released the causes for either fire. However, they have acknowledged the significant structural damage, particularly to the roofs and attic areas of the homes involved. News 9 reported that OKCFD Battalion Chief Paul Nash stated, “no one was inside the home at the time of the fire.”…
