Driver arrested after assaulting OKC officer during traffic stop, chase

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Authorities say one person is in jail after assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop then leading police on a chase in Southeast Oklahoma City.

According to police, while patrolling the area of SE 29th St. and High Ave., police noticed the driver of a red truck drifting over the center line. After trying to get the driver’s attention with no success, the officer turned on his lights and eventually got the driver – identified as Daniel Plascencia-Lopez to stop in the driveway of a home.

Officials say the stop didn’t last long. After the officer opened the door to Lopez’s truck, Lopez put the truck into reverse, hitting the officer with the door. He then backed into the officer’s cruiser before taking off, hitting another vehicle and crashing into an electrical pole a few blocks away.
