‘Smell the house from the street’: OKC neighborhood fed up with problem property

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Several neighbors living in a northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood say they’re fed up by the state a home on their block has been in, which has gotten Animal Welfare involved.

People living next to the home, in a neighborhood just east of Hefner Road and Council Road, say they’ve been dealing with issues there for about a year. News 4 spoke with next-door Denise Hay, who was the only neighbor willing to speak on-camera about the complaints.

“It was getting in my house, in my garage,” said Hay. “Of course, my car was parked in the garage, so I could even smell it in my car.”

The bulk of the visible issues with the property, News 4 employees observed, are tied to the front porch area. Trash is littered across a path leading up the porch, including open cans of discarded animal food, standing water, fly traps, and other junk. The odor coming from the nearby area was so distinct that News 4 employees had to take multiple breaks. Hay said she rarely stays at her own home because of the issues and has gotten the City of Oklahoma City involved…
