Staten Island man arrested in $18M scam targeting hundreds of seniors

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Federal authorities allege that a 37-year-old man from Staten Island was among individuals who attempted to obtain over $18 million from more than 350 victims as part of a nationwide scam that targeted seniors.

Jingbin Jiang, was arrested on Staten Island on Thursday, and Su Jian Liu, 38, of Edmond, Oklahoma, remains at large. The pair allegedly participated in the scheme where more than 70 victims lost over $5 million, according to an announcement by United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton, Assistant Director in Charge of the New York Field Office of the FBI Christopher Raia and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
