Work at the new Oklahoma County jail site uncovered 3,700 cubic yards of contaminated soil that must be removed, a previously unknown oil well that must be capped, and a sewer line that must be relocated, county commissioners have learned.
The combined cost of the extra work at 1901 E Grand Blvd. is about $400,000.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the commissioners put off dealing with the contaminated soil until a future meeting, at County Engineer Stacey Trumbo’s request. Trumbo gave no explanation for the delay. He is proposing that Midwest Wrecking Co. be paid $360,605 to load, haul, and dispose of it…
