The Oklahoma City Zoo is buzzing with activity this weekend, offering guests a chance to connect with animals, support local causes, and even take home a new furry friend.
Dog adoptions with OKC Animal Welfare
The zoo partnered with Oklahoma City Animal Welfare to host a dog adoption event in front of its Education Center. Shelters across the city are at capacity, and the zoo is helping by offering space for families to meet adoptable pets.
“So we are hosting three adoption events. This is our second or third. Our next one will be the first Saturday in October,” zoo spokesperson Candice Rennels said. “I think close to 10 dogs found new homes.”
The effort is part of the zoo’s broader mission to connect people with animals. In this case, not just wild species but pets in need of forever homes.
Celebrating World Primate Day
