OCSO and first responders climb honoring 9/11 victims

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) joint tactical unit joined first responders and civilians over the weekend at the 14th Annual OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb event.

According to OCSO’s office, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and civilians ascending up 110 flight climb as a gesture of remembrance and solidarity.

This year’s climb paid tribute to the following lives lost in the tragic events of 9/11:

  • 343 FDNY firefighters
  • 37 Port Authority Police Department officers
  • 23 NYPD officers
  • 1 New York Fire Police officer
  • 8 EMTs/medics
  • And many civilians, including passengers on United Flight 93 and American Flight 11

Participating first responders at the event said, “by choosing to climb—step by step, in gear, and with heavy hearts—our team reaffirmed a sacred promise: “Never Forget.” We ascended not just floors, but the weight of history, honoring individuals who gave everything in the line of duty.”…
