EL RENO – A former state corrections officer at a prison in Canadian County faces prison time herself for allegedly providing a cell phone to an inmate with whom she was having a relationship.
Yukon’s Maria-Isabel Claybal Chavez, age 37, was charged Sept. 5 in Canadian County District Court with bringing contraband into a penal institution and communicating unlawfully with a convict. Assistant District Attorney Cathryn M. Lind signed the charging document.
