New DUI law set to go into effect November 1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Beginning November 1, Oklahoma law will expand when a driving under the influence (DUI) situation can be charged as a felony.

A DUI can be elevated to a felony-level when if it involves:

  • A crash
  • Driving with a minor in the vehicle
  • Excessive speeding or reckless driving
  • Eluding law enforcement
  • Having a high blood alcohol concentration (0.15% or higher)
