Authorities have apprehended a suspect linked to a recent New Orleans homicide, the NOPD announced earlier this month. Ronald Smith Jr., identified by the NOPD as a black male born on April 4, 2008, was arrested in Oklahoma City on October 27. The NOLA Police Department News Release details that Smith is allegedly connected to a shooting that took place on October 6, in the 3700 block of Texas Drive, New Orleans.
On that evening, shortly after 8:00 p.m., NOPD officers found a teenage boy suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Declared dead at the scene by New Orleans EMS, the victim was a 17-year-old male whose name has not been disclosed due to being a juvenile. The authorities, having fled New Orleans, informed that Smith was potentially hiding with relatives in Oklahoma City.
The subsequent identification of the victim and cause of death was provided by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office. On October 8, they confirmed that the victim succumbed to gunshot injuries.
