Bringing awareness to QR code scams or ‘quishing’

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Brian Ledbette with Guidepoint Security explains a new scam called “quishing” is using fake QR codes to install malware on devices and steal information.

The Federal Trade Commission warns that bad actors are using these fake QR codes in places where QR codes are commonly used, such as menus, tickets, and shopping.

To protect themselves, consumers should scan QR codes with caution and ensure they are from trusted sources. While QR codes are not going away, efforts are being made to stop this type of scam…
