OKLAHOMA CITY – In 2004, Tremane Wood was sentenced to death for his role in the 2002 murder of Ronnie Wipf in Oklahoma City. During a hearing with the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board on Nov. 5, Attorney Amanda Bass and her team outlined their arguments to spare Wood’s life.
Bass and her team pointed to a number of what the defense team said were flaws in the prosecution’s original trial proceedings. Bass said that the prosecution failed to instruct the jury on key matters in the case properly.
The State argued that Wood had not shown clear signs of remorse. They cited several of Wood’s alleged criminal activities behind bars, including narcotics dealings and the unauthorized possession of a cellphone. They also brought up pieces of forensic evidence from Wood’s original trial, which they claim prove the original sentence was appropriate…
