As our nation pauses to honor the bravery and sacrifice of America’s veterans, it’s worth remembering that before they wore uniforms, they sat in classrooms. Every soldier, pilot and sailor was once a student, taught by a teacher who helped shape their character, discipline, and sense of purpose.

We rightfully salute our veterans for defending our freedoms. Their courage protects the values that define this country. But behind every veteran is a teacher or mentor who first ignited the spark of curiosity, responsibility and resilience that carried them through their service. From the kindergarten teacher who taught them to raise their hand, to the high school mentor who encouraged them to dream bigger, educators build the foundation that every hero stands on.

Teachers and mentors are often the quiet force behind every profession. They inspire the doctors who save lives, the engineers who build cities, the artists who tell our stories, and yes, the veterans who defend our nation. Education doesn’t just fill minds; it molds hearts and builds leaders…
