Oklahoma attorney general seeks Feb. 12 execution date for Death Row inmate

The State of Oklahoma is seeking to schedule the death sentence for a Death Row inmate for a date in February, amid a civil lawsuit filed by the inmate’s legal representation.

Kendrick Simpson was convicted of killing two men during a fight in an Oklahoma City nightclub back in 2006. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond filed a request this week to schedule Simpson’s execution as Simpson continues to challenge his death sentence in federal court.

Simpson argues his execution should be delayed until a ruling is issued in a civil lawsuit alleging Oklahoma’s execution procedures violated his constitutional rights. That case remains under review…
