OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — City Rescue Mission in downtown Oklahoma City opened its doors on Thursday to welcome people in for a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
The nonprofit, along with more than 100 volunteers, served up meals to those experiencing homelessness and anyone else in need in the community.
“It’s really important for opportunities like this to happen because when you’re someone that’s experiencing homelessness or you’ve been separated from your family or there’s just some barrier to stability in your life, being able to come somewhere where you feel welcomed, where you’re out of the elements, where people are glad to see you, where you have opportunity for a strong nourishment, and then also find ways to maybe connect to services or other people, it’s really empowering,” said Melanie Anthony, City Rescue Mission Vice President of Development and Engagement…
