Governor’s crackdown under ‘Operation SAFE’ leads to arrests at homeless camps

Efforts to clean up state property in Oklahoma City continue under the Governor’s ‘Operation SAFE’.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Governor in late October, utilizes the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Department of Transportation to remove homeless encampments from state-owned property like under highway overpasses.

On Monday, OHP arrested three homeless individuals who refused to move off of state-owned property. All three were taken to the Oklahoma County Detention Center, accused of “using state property for purposes other than official business.”…
