OKC nonprofit Imani’s Village hosts annual wonderland carnival

OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City nonprofit focused on improving maternal and infant health is hosting its eighth annual Village Wonderland Carnival, a community event designed to bring families together and highlight the organization’s year-round support services.

Farrah Antoine-Mayberry, founder and executive director of Imani’s Village, joined News 9 to share what the celebration means for families and how it connects to the group’s mission.

What the carnival supports

Imani’s Village provides doula training and offers free doula services to Black birthing families, while also supporting other marginalized groups, Antoine-Mayberry said. She said the Village Wonderland Carnival is one way the organization gives back after a year of fundraising, training and outreach.

“Think colorful event, Santa, pictures, hot cocoa, food, snacks,” she said. “This is our way of giving back to the community, having a fun event that they can just come to, find out more about what we do, and we get to spoil them with lots of goodies.”…
