NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — Norman Police say Sergeant Justin Hackbarth was hit by a car Thursday night on Highway 9. He underwent surgery on Friday and is still in the hospital.
“This incident is truly tragic. It’s the type of incident that no one ever wants to respond to,” said Sarah Schettler, with the Norman Police Department.

A Norman Police officer was hit by a car Thursday night just west of 108th Avenue SE.
“The officer was on a different call on State Highway nine when he was outside of his car and working through that incident when he was struck by the other motorist that wasn’t involved in that initial incident,” said Schettler.
The officer was critically injured and taken to OU Medical Center.
