As Hanukkah begins, OKC rabbi calls for community to unite after Australia attack

The first night of Hanukkah was celebrated in Oklahoma City with a public menorah lighting as a local rabbi vowed that darkness would not overcome light in the aftermath of fatal terror attack at a Hanukkah event in Australia.

A few hours before the Oklahoma City Community Chanukah Festival began on Sunday at Scissortail Park, Rabbi Ovadia Goldman appeared in a video featured in an email sent out to supporters and local community members. Goldman urged the Jewish community to turn out for the annual festival to mark the first night of Hanukkah.

The spiritual leader of the Chabad Community Center for Jewish Life and Learning asked members of the public at large to show up as well, in a gesture of solidarity…
