New Micah Community Center offers support for Oklahoma City’s unhoused neighbors

OKLAHOMA CITY – A new community center in Oklahoma City is offering support, conversation, and basic resources for people experiencing homelessness, with a focus on dignity and human connection.

The Micah Community Center opened June 29, marking the first physical location for Micah Community Movement, a nonprofit founded on the idea that people experiencing homelessness should be treated as neighbors.

“We try to call them neighbors, not clients or guests,” said Alissa Gilmore, executive director of Micah Community Movement. “We’re all sharing the same space in the same city, and we want them to feel seen and heard and valued.”
