Oklahoma City Announces Holiday Schedule: City Offices Closure and Service Changes, Free Christmas Day Transit

The City of Oklahoma City has announced its schedule for the upcoming Christmas holidays, noting some changes to its regular services during this time. According to a news release by the City of Oklahoma City, the official City offices will be closed on December 24th and 25th in observance of Christmas. While the trash and recycling collection will not be affected on Christmas Eve, those services will be delayed on Christmas Day with a make-up collection scheduled for Saturday, December 27th.

Public transportation will see a mix of regular and reduced schedules throughout the holiday period; the OKC buses, RAPID, OKC Streetcar, and OKC PLUS Zone 1 ADA Paratransit will operate under their standard weekday schedules on Christmas Eve, albeit with transit center customer service and the 235-RIDE Call Center closing early at 4 p.m., but on Christmas Day, these services will be free of charge to the public and follow adjusted weekend hours, with RAPID running every 30 minutes from 7 a.m to 7 p.m and the OKC Streetcar operating on a reduced schedule from 11 a.m to 7 p.m, as reported by the City of Oklahoma City.

Alongside city office closures, several other facilities will shutter their doors to the public during the holiday season. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, Animal Welfare, and Municipal Court will be closed, with online payment options available at okc.gov. Additionally, all OKC Parks community centers, gyms, and senior centers will be closed starting from December 22, through January 2, while recreation centers and senior centers will specifically be closed starting December 24, through Thursday, January 1.
