Earthquakes detected in central Oklahoma, southern Kansas

An earthquake was detected west of the Oklahoma City metro on Friday, registering as a 3.2 magnitude quake, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The USGS says the earthquake happened at 5:36 a.m., approximately 12 miles west of Union City in Canadian County. The tremor was measured to have originated at a depth of around 5 kilometers underground.

Earlier in the morning, at 12:06 a.m., a smaller earthquake was detected near Coffeyville, Kansas, located just across the border from Oklahoma. That earthquake was measured as a 2.4 magnitude quake…
