Indigenous art installation planned near Land Run Monument in Bricktown

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — A new art installation is planned for the Bricktown River Walk.

“When the Earth Remembers”, by artist Addison Karl, received approval from the Oklahoma City city council in July 2025. The art installation will feature cast-concrete bison bones and cast bronze bison skulls arranged in a counterclockwise spiral.

The work will symbolize the loss of Indigenous lands and the resilience of Indigenous cultures. The artwork’s concept and placement will be “directly connected to the land it occupies,” according to a project description submitted to the city…
