Sooners likely complete the makeover of one position group that should be a massive wildcard in 2026

The Oklahoma Sooners have been the hottest team in the transfer portal. Over a two-day span, they landed several strong players, some of whom could be elite by 2026. The only player they missed was DT Alex VanSumeren, who chose USC. However, on Sunday, OU responded by landing wide receiver Mackenzie Allenye, who previously played at Washington State.Oklahoma has used the transfer portal to rebuild its entire wide receiver room. When the first commitment of Trell Harris hit, not much had changed. Then former Texas Longhorns receiver Parker Livingston committed, and then receivers on the current roster started entering the portal left and right. Now, they land Alleyne to make up for that.

Sooners entire WR room is almost completely different

With the additions of Harris, Livingston, and now Alleyne, the Sooners have been active in the WR market. WR Josiah Martin, WR KJ Daniels, WR Zion Kearney, WR Ivan Carreon, WR Javonnie Gibson, and WR Zion Ragins have all since entered the portal.Eli Merck, Jacob Jordan, Isaiah Sategna (TBA), Trey Brown, Jer’Michael Carter, Major Nelson, Jakeb Snyder, Manny Choice, Elijah Thomas, and Keontez Lewis are the only guys from last season still on the roster. Only three of those guys really played, and even they didn’t play much.

Not to mention, OU will have several freshman receivers, including Jayden Petit, Jahsiear Rogers, Daniel Odom, and Zizi Okwufulueze. The room that honestly struggled last season, because what position group on offense didn’t, will look completely different. The good thing is that Alleyne is a freshman with the perfect size the Sooners needed in the receiver room. He’s 6’1, 190 pounds, and is pretty fast. That’s a lot of speed in 2026, once again, that’s if Sategna comes back.Adding Alleyne will bring an element to the Sooners’ receiver room that is definitely needed a bit. Alleyne is good at getting open. He had four catches for 72 yards and one touchdown at Washington State. The main question is, coming from Washington State, can he get open against SEC cornerbacks?
