Oklahoma takes a risky transfer flier hoping this time it finally works

The Oklahoma Sooners hope the third time is the charm for defensive tackle Bishop Thomas.

Thomas on Monday committed to the Sooners out of the Transfer Portal from Georgia State, according to On3, after other previous stops at Florida State and Colorado. He will have one year of eligibility left.

Thomas is coming off his best season yet with Georgia State, where he transferred to in 2024 and appeared in only three games before playing in all 12 this season. In 2025, Thomas, listed at 6-foot-2 and 290 pounds, recorded 48 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a pass breakup.

Prior to Georgia State, Thomas was at Colorado for one season in 2023, during which he had six tackles, two TFLs and a fumble recovery in nine games. He transferred to Colorado from Florida State, where he signed as a three-star recruit from Bishop Moore Catholic in Florida in the 2022 class.
