Oklahoma Death Row inmate Kendrick Simpson denied clemency

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Death Row inmate Kendrick Simpson, 45, was denied clemency by theOklahoma Pardon and Parole Board in a hearing on Wednesday morning, less than a month before he is set to be executed.

The board voted 3-2 to deny clemency for Simpson.

Simpson was convicted of killing two men, Glen Palmer, 20, and Anthony Jones, 19, during a fight outside an Oklahoma City nightclub in 2006. A jury sentenced him to death in 2007. His execution date is set for Feb. 12, marking the state’s first scheduled execution for 2026.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond formally requested that the board deny Simpson clemency, arguing Simpson “has never demonstrated genuine remorse and continues to embody the violent behavior that led a jury to unanimously impose the death penalty.”…
