Oklahoma sends a loud message as showdown with No. 1 Florida suddenly looms

No. 2 Oklahoma swept all four team events, as well as the top two spots in the all-around competition, on its way to a 198.425-196.875 win over No. 5 Georgia in SEC women’s gymnastics action at Lloyd Noble Center on Friday afternoon.

The defending and seven-time national champion Sooner women remain unbeaten at 4-0-1 in 2026 and are 2-0 against SEC opponents. Three of OU’s four outright wins were against teams ranked in the top 10 nationally and the tie was against LSU in the season-opening Sprouts Farmer’s Market Collegiate Quad (although the championship trophy was awarded to the Sooners on the basis of a tiebreaker formula).

OU women’s gymnastics dominates Georgia in home opener

Oklahoma’s winning score against Georgia was the first 198-plus score posted this season in NCAA Division-I competition. The Sooners recorded four such scores in 2025 and 12 the year before.

The Sooners’ overall and individual performance against Georgia was their best of the season.
