Driver crashes into Oklahoma Highway Patrol vehicle near H.E. Bailey Turnpike

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A driver was flown to the hospital on Monday afternoon after crashing into an Oklahoma Highway Patrol vehicle while a trooper and a worker with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) diverted traffic due to a grass fire.

Both the trooper and the OTA worker had exited their vehicles to assist with traffic control along the H.E. Bailey Turnpike on Monday when a vehicle drove through the area and struck the trooper’s patrol vehicle, according to officials.

The driver of the vehicle was flown to a nearby hospital, where they are expected to survive. Neither the trooper nor the OTA worker was injured in the incident.
