Oklahoma drunk driver to get out of prison after serving 73 days of eight-year sentence

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is facing an outcry for its decision to let an admitted drunk driver who almost killed another driver out of prison after only 73 days.

Sara Polston, 43, was sentenced in December to eight years in prison for a near-fatal accident in Norman in 2023.

She is set to get out on Thursday, Feb. 19, under a state law meant to reduce prison overcrowding. The Department of Corrections is placing her in its Global Positional Satellite Program and allowing her to go home…
