The Oklahoma Sooners are in a close battle for an elite 2027 four-star wide receiver. What will only fire Sooners fans up even more about the battle is who it’s against.Whether you’re new here or have been a Sooners fan for a long time, you know about the hatred that the fan base now has for USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley. He’s the former Sooners head coach who left before OU decided to join the SEC, and took almost everything with him to LA.It set the Sooners back a bit, but just like it’s always been—Oklahoma is still the better football program. Of the two teams, OU was the first to make the College Football Playoff. Now, they could be nearing another win. Or, they could be nearing a loss, as the Sooners have landed in the top four for a four-star wide receiver, and he’s set to announce his commitment on Friday.
Sooners could be runners-up to Lincoln Riley and USC

Four-star wide receiver Quentin Hale from Corona, California, will announce his commitment on Friday, where he has the Trojans, Sooners, LSU Tigers, and Texas Longhorns all in his top four. The Sooners have a shot at Hale, as does every other team. However, there is a glaring advantage that USC has—he’s from the area.Going to USC is probably his dream school, and it would keep him closer to home than all of those other schools. That immediately means the Sooners have to do more work. According to Rivals, the Trojans are projected to land Hale with the Sooners coming in second. That wouldn’t hurt them too badly.Oklahoma has sent out 28 offers to wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class. They have one commitment from Demare Dezeurn and are projected to land Greydon Howell. This one isn’t the end of the world if the Sooners do lose it, but they certainly need more.
