Heads up, Oklahoma City residents: big changes are coming to bulky trash collection starting March 1. If you’re among the 64,000 customers in the OKC Utilities Department’s crosshairs, expect to see your bulky waste pickup schedule shift. According to an announcement confirmed by the City of Oklahoma City – Government news release, the most affected areas will be the stretch from the South I-240 Service Road to 122nd Street, nestled between May and Bryant avenues, with a sprinkling of neighborhoods just north of 122nd also feeling the ripple effect.
Don’t get left in the lurch, busy-scheduled folks of the central corridor; to help constituents stay on top of things, the City has sent out postcards that spell out the first three dates of the new collection timetable. They didn’t stop there—an interactive online tool coined the “Bulky Collection Changes” map is now available at okc.gov/MyTrashDay. Residents there can zoom in on their colored block or punch in an address to get the skinny on their new pickup days and weeks. For those folks outside the shaded zones on the map—breathe easy; your routine stays untouched.
As we hurdle toward the March changeover, the Utilities Department is also making new collection dates widely available on the regular okc.gov/MyTrashDay map, on those monthly water statements, via your online accounts at okcutilities.com, and handy-dandy within the My OKC Utilities mobile app. Just remember, until D-Day—or should we say ‘B-Day’ for bulky items—hits on March 1, the current schedules are still what you’re gunning for, according to the same news release…
