Sooners refuse to quit on former 4-star commit as decision looms

The Oklahoma Sooners were down in the recruitment for 2027 consensus four-star edge rusher Zane Rowe, but never out.

After decommitting from the Sooners in January 2025, Rowe is closing in on his next decision, and OU is in the mix again, along with Oregon, Washington and North Carolina. According to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman and Hayes Fawcett, Rowe will announce his second commitment on Friday, March 13.

Zane Rowe could soon commit to Oklahoma for a 2nd time

Rowe was initially the Sooners’ first 2027 commitment for what has since developed into the best recruiting class in the country with 13 commits. He pledged extremely early in his recruiting process in April 2024, a month after OU’s offer, so it was unlikely then that the Sooners could keep Rowe locked in for almost three years with other big-time college football programs also knocking. When Rowe decommitted, he was still OU’s only 2027 commit at the time.

After getting on recruiting radars early thanks to breakout sophomore season, Rowe has a long list of offers that includes Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Kentucky, Miami, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC and more…
